The Gilmanton 4th of July Committee is pleased to announce the Grand Marshall for the 2023 Parade. This year, the Committee has nominated John “Jack” Fanning.
Jack has been a member of the GIlmanton community for more than 50 years. He moved to GIlmanton in 1969 where he began working in construction but also was on the Gilmanton Fire Department. He worked under several fire chiefs including Chief Barlow, Chief Laroche and Chief Sharp. During his service with the fire department, he also became 2nd Captain of the ambulance crew working under the 1st Captain John Glines. Jack also participated in organizing the 4th of July Parade and was known to “cut a rug” at the annual 3rd of July dance. He was often seen participating in the parade driving his old John Deere while dressed in his favorite overalls.
Jack will have the honor of being in the lead car of the parade.
Please join us in celebrating Jack Fanning at the parade at 10:00am on July 4th
